Over 60 pairs of hands on deck, 400 litres of paint and indescribable enthusiasm – here is a recipe for one of the CSR campaigns joined by FAMUR. Aim: to paint the Upper Silesian Child Health Centre (GCZD) in Katowice-Ligota.
– The idea to paint the walls in GCZD was born in the mind of one of the TDJ employees who, along with her child, availed of the assistance of doctors in this hospital. We did not need much persuasion to participate in this initiative. The response from the employees was amazing. More than 60 people took part in this project, including relatives of the employees of the companies related to TDJ SA, representatives of TDJ Foundation and even former employees of FAMUR – commented Anna Łomnicka, Manager of the Organisation Development Department of FAMUR SA, one of the project coordinators.
The volunteers met on a couple of weekends in June and July 2017 to refresh the walls in the Centre in which the youngest inhabitants of the region are admitted on a daily basis. The campaign was also combined with another Famur’s social project – Activity Mine. Works on the painting were going so well that they were finished ahead of schedule.

When our homes start to smell like gingerbreads, we like to turn into… Santa Clauses at work. Therefore, our Silesian facilities organise Christmas fundraising events for local assistance centres. In 2017 it was a single mother home and an orphanage.
New and used clothes for children and adults, toys, books, cosmetics, medicines, food – these are the items donated by the employees of FAMUR from Katowice and Chorzów, but also by employees of TDJ SA, TDJ Estate and TDJ Foundation. Since 2016, we have been supporting a single mother home from Ruda Śląska this way. A year later we managed to collect so much stuff that Christmas aid was also granted to a care and therapy centre in Gliwice.
Seeing the commitment of our employees, we know that we will soon be able to hold the Christmas fundraising events regularly.

The main idea of the of the Factory of Social and Civic Competences project is education. Through a series of specially prepared workshops, our staff formed a team of volunteer coaches who worked with young people and shared their knowledge on social issues. During a few months of the campaign, 10 educators from Famur reached 370 young people.
In the first stage of the project, together with TDJ Foundation, we organized training sessions on youth work activities and training skills for 10 people employed in several departments of the FAMUR Group. It was only later that the employees-educators conducted their own workshops dedicated to children and teenagers. They taught them, among other things, how to use the Internet safely, what the citizens’ budget is, how a large company operates or what skills are useful in a professional work.
– During the project I learned that well-prepared workshops have a real, positive impact on the lives of people around us – said Maciej Krętosz, one of 10 educators.
The volunteers held meetings with young people at a summer camp run by TDJ Foundation, but also in schools in three voivodeships: Śląskie, Małopolskie and Łódzkie (Silesian, Lesser Poland and Łódź Voivodeships).
The Factory of Social and Civic Competences project was co-funded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy under the Operational Programme Civic Initiatives Fund.
