Special edition of the ‘KATOWICE 2017’ mining fair for the FAMUR Group

During the International Fair of Mining, Power Industry and Metallurgy 'KATOWICE 2017', the FAMUR and KOPEX brand made the first joint presentation of a broad portfolio of products and services. This history-making event for the company is part of the ongoing consolidation of the Polish mining-related industry.

Held from 29 August to 1 September, the mining fair featured exhibitors who, according to the tradition, presented their solutions in front of Spodek and on the premises of the International Conference Centre, both located in Katowice.

This year’s fair was exceptional for the FAMUR Group, which has begun an entirely new chapter in the history of our company. We have presented ourselves at the fair together with the KOPEX Group – as a strong organisation that is the leader both in the country and in the region, but also as the one that can challenge the biggest companies in the world – sums up Mirosław Bendzera, CEO of FAMUR SA – The combination of knowledge, resources and experience of both companies allows us to prepare an offer thanks to which we will be able to fully implement investment projects on a global scale for the mining, power and transshipment industries. This is what we clearly wanted to show during the fair in Katowice – he adds.

The FAMUR exhibition was also exceptional since the company presented their products and services using 3D printed machinery and a virtual application. For example, the FS-800 shearer loader, which had not yet been presented at any fair, was shown to the visitors using the above-mentioned technology. The visitors to the over 500-square-metre stand could also take a virtual tour of a mine, control a roadheader or longwall shearer remotely – the latter which was made of LEGO bricks by Silesian University of Technology students. In addition, a photo booth attracted a lot of visitors, who could take a photo of themselves dressed as a miner. Above all, however, the visitors could meet FAMUR experts and find out details of the solutions offered by the Group.

The fair also featured a meeting of the CEO of FAMUR SA with journalists. It involved the presentation of the current state and assumed objective of the integration with Kopex and company development plans for the immediate future, including those on foreign markets.

One of the events accompanying this year’s fair was a product seminar, during which selected solutions in the FAMUR Group’s offer were discussed. As far as the presentations are concerned, great emphasis was put to the concept of Industry 4.0 in the mining industry, possibilities of increasing the efficiency of coal seams in Poland, remote control of roadheaders, diagnostics of industrial gears and transport of people using belt conveyors.

We would like to say thank you to all people who visited our stand.
